They're the same service. Microsoft rebranded Azure Active Directory as Microsoft Entra ID in July 2023. Tenant IDs, APIs, and PowerShell cmdlets remain unchanged — only the marketing name moved.

02 Is Microsoft Entra ID free?

Yes — Entra ID Free is included with every Microsoft cloud subscription (Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365). It covers basic user/group management and SSO for up to 10 pre-integrated apps. Conditional access, MFA, and identity protection require P1 ($6/user/month) or P2 ($9/user/month).

03 What is the Microsoft Entra Suite?

Entra Suite, launched 2024, bundles Entra Internet Access, Private Access, ID Governance, and Verified ID premium features for $12/user/month on top of P1. It's Microsoft's identity-led answer to SSE/SASE.

04 Do I need P2 to use Privileged Identity Management?
