Hidden Costs Breakdown

1

No Native Mobile App

medium addon

Passpack has no native iOS or Android application. Mobile access is browser-only with no biometric login (Face ID or fingerprint). Multiple users describe the mobile browser experience as clunky, with poor scrolling and no offline capability. This may force teams to maintain a secondary mobile-friendly credential tool.

trustpilot

Super difficult to login. There is no mobile app with fingerprint or faceid login

trustpilot

No mobile app, very clunky to use on phone over browser. Scrolling is horrible.

2

Migration and Data Loss Risk

critical migration

During platform transitions (V7 to new version), users reported lost passwords, no migration emails, and inability to retrieve stored data. Some users lost access to 100-200+ passwords.

trustpilot

Do not trust this site in any way. My passwords from V7 have all disappeared. I have not received an email to switch from the old system to the new one.

trustpilot

Horrible. I was a member for about two years and renewed my subscription when a few months later they changed the platform with no notice. Suddenly I could not retrieve any of my password information. Everything I had put in the system was blocked... I had to start over with over 100 passwords.

3

Slow or Non-Existent Customer Support

high support

Users report emails going unanswered, slow response times (2.5+ hours during critical lockouts), and lack of support during migrations or technical issues.

trustpilot

Contacted customer service via email several times without a response.

trustpilot

We immediately messaged support to get answers. It is now 11:25 am and still haven't received a response, 2 1/2 hours later. We are still locked out of our multiple accts. and at a standstill. Very bad for our business.

4

Limited Free Account Sharing

medium addon

Previous versions allowed sharing passwords with free accounts, but this is no longer possible in the current version. Teams now require paid licenses for all sharing participants.

trustpilot

Before you could share passwords with free accounts, but that's no longer possible.

5

Billing Management Issues

high support

Users report difficulty finding where to change billing details or credit card information, and cases of continued billing after cancellation (up to 2 years).

trustpilot

Its impossible to find where we can change our billing details including credit card.

trustpilot

Product is average, Customer service is terrible... Worst is, they will charge and continue to charge you, and be slow on refunds. It's been 2 years since I cancelled their service, and they are still billing me!!!!

6

Poor User Interface and Performance

low training

Current version described as slow (especially sign-in), complicated, unintuitive, with poor search functionality and no alphabetical sorting. Loading times can be long.

trustpilot

For some reason the current version feels slow. Especially on the sign in you sometimes get the impression that it's stuck. The GUI could be better

trustpilot

Complicated, unintuitive UI.

7

Previously Free Features Moved to Paid Plans

medium addon

Passpack transitioned from a free model to a paid subscription during their V7-to-new-platform migration. Long-term free users were required to pay without prior notice. Features previously available at no cost — including broader password sharing — now require a paid plan starting at $1.50/user/month.

trustpilot

The service was free before you updated to a new version of it. Not happy about that!

trustpilot

Initially, free version was awesome. Though they are taking payment, quality of system degraded terrifically.

8

Persistent Billing After Cancellation

high support

Multiple users report continued charges for one to two or more years after canceling their subscription. Customer support is slow to respond to billing disputes, refunds are inconsistent, and some users report no way to remove credit card details from the billing system after cancellation.

trustpilot

Product is average, Customer service is terrible. They are slow to respond. Worst is, they will charge and continue to charge you, and be slow on refunds. It's been 2 years since I cancelled their service, and they are still billing me!!!!

g2

I cancelled their service over 2 years ago, and they keep on billing me. This despite contacing their customer service several times to clear this up and multiple reassurances that this won't keep happening, it just keeps happening over and over again.

9

Data Loss Risk During Platform Migration

critical migration

Passpack's migration from V7 to their new platform resulted in password data becoming inaccessible or lost for some users. Several users reported no prior notification about the migration and were unable to retrieve their data, with no timely support response during the transition.

trustpilot

My passwords from V7 have all disappeared. I have not received an email to switch from the old system to the new one.

trustpilot

Suddenly I could not retrieve any of my password information. Everything I had put in the system was blocked. There were no responses to my emails, no support, and no way to contact them.

10

No Native Mobile App — Browser-Only Mobile Access

medium addon

Passpack has no native iOS or Android application. All mobile access must go through a web browser, which multiple reviewers describe as clunky, hard to scroll, and lacking modern authentication like fingerprint or Face ID login. This creates friction for teams whose members frequently need password access on phones or tablets.

trustpilot

No mobile app, very clunky to use on phone over browser. Scrolling is horrible.

trustpilot

Super difficult to login. There is no mobile app with fingerprint or faceid login

11

No Password Recovery for Forgotten Security Phrase

high support

Passpack's zero-knowledge architecture means there is no self-service recovery mechanism if a user forgets their security phrase (packing key). The only resolution is for an administrator to re-provision the account, which may result in loss of individually-stored passwords and requires admin intervention time.

g2

If you forgot you Security phrase you can not reset your Password.

g2

The flip side of Passpack's security is that there is no recovery mechanism -- especially for users (like me) that didn't need to access credentials frequently, it was challenging to remember the passwords required to gain access. With no recovery mode, the only option is for the admin to re-provision the user.

12

Difficult Migration Between Major Platform Versions

medium migration

Passpack's transition to a new platform version was not well-communicated and required manual batch exports that many users found confusing. Some users temporarily or permanently lost access to stored passwords during the transition, requiring significant time investment and, in some cases, complete password re-entry.

trustpilot

Suddenly I could not retrieve any of my password information. Everything I had put in the system was blocked. There were no responses to my emails, no support, and no way to contact them.

g2

when passpack upgraded their services they didn't make it easy to get all of your passwords, you had to do a whole export and it was complicated for us to do. You also could only export in batches from what I remember.

13

Free Tier Restrictions Removed Without Notice

low addon

Passpack previously allowed free users to share passwords with other free accounts. This feature was removed, forcing users who relied on free-to-free sharing to upgrade to a paid plan. Users who had been on the platform for years found their workflow broken without advance notice.

trustpilot

The service was free before you updated to a new version of it. Not happy about that!

trustpilot

Before you could share passwords with free accounts, but that's no longer possible. Of course there is no such thing as a free lunch. I will keep on using it because I have so many passwords in it and 18 dollar per year is still OK for what you get in return.
