Deel and Remote both publish an Employer of Record rate of $599 per employee per month, so the headline price does not separate them. What does: the commitment behind that $599, the number of countries you can hire in, how each prices contractors, and what happens when a hire needs a visa. This comparison works through seven criteria using only what each vendor publishes, then gives a verdict for one specific kind of buyer. Every figure was checked against deel.com and remote.com on 27 October 2026.
The verdict, up front
If you are hiring your first full-time employees in several new countries, without local entities and without a fixed headcount plan, choose Deel. Four published differences decide it for that buyer:
- No annual lock-in. Deel states its pricing is month-to-month with no long-term contract required. Remote's $599 EOR rate is published as the rate "for annual contracts." When you are testing a market, the right to scale down next month is worth more than a lower contractor seat.
- More countries. Deel offers EOR in 130+ countries and says it owns a network of entities in 150+. Remote offers EOR in 90+. In expansion, coverage decides whether a hire can happen at all.
- Visas. Deel runs in-house immigration support in 70+ countries. Remote's pricing page lists no immigration product.
- Room to grow. When a market gets big enough for your own entity, Deel's Global Payroll covers 150+ countries against Remote's 100+, so the EOR-to-entity move can stay on one platform.
Choose Remote instead if your international team is mostly contractors and will stay that way, or if you are hiring a small, stable group of employees in countries Remote covers and can commit for a year. Remote's contractor seat is $29 a month against Deel's $49, and it sells a $99 tier with misclassification indemnity that Deel has no direct equivalent for.
First, three products that do three different jobs
Most confusion in this category comes from comparing the wrong products. Deel and Remote both sell the same three core services, and each covers a different legal relationship. Pick the product for each person before comparing any prices.
| Product | When you use it | Who carries the employer obligations |
|---|---|---|
| Employer of Record (EOR) | You want a full-time employee in a country where you have no legal entity. | The provider. It is the legal employer in that country, issues the local contract, and runs payroll, withholding and statutory benefits. You direct the work. |
| Global Payroll | You already own a legal entity in the country. | You. The provider calculates and files payroll for your entity: gross-to-net, payslips and tax filings. It costs far less than EOR because the liability stays with you. |
| Contractor Management | The person is genuinely self-employed. | Nobody. The provider handles contracts, invoices and cross-border payments. If the arrangement really works like employment, the misclassification risk is yours unless you pay for cover. |
Two mistakes come up constantly. One is paying EOR fees in a country where you already have an entity, which means paying a provider to carry obligations you already hold. Global Payroll is the right product there. The other is keeping a full-time, single-client worker on contractor management to save money. That saves on the platform fee and moves the classification risk onto you. Deel and Remote both handle the transition from one product to the next. The fees and terms at each step are where they differ.

Checked 27 October 2026 on each vendor's pricing and product pages. "Edge" marks the better published term for a typical buyer. Country counts, entity and support descriptions are each vendor's own claims. Every price is a platform fee, before salary, employer taxes and statutory benefits.
Criterion 1: Pricing structure
On EOR, list price is a tie at $599 per employee per month. The difference is the commitment. Deel's pricing FAQ says it "offers flexible month-to-month pricing with no long-term commitments required." Remote's pricing page publishes $599 "for annual contracts" and does not publish a monthly EOR rate, so a buyer who cannot commit for a year has to get that number from Remote's sales team.
Below EOR, two published prices diverge, both in Remote's favour. Contractor Management is $29 at Remote and $49 at Deel. US PEO is $99 at Remote and $125 at Deel. Global Payroll, for entities you own, is $29 per employee per month on both, and Contractor of Record is $325 on both.
Both vendors publish their fee structure more openly than most of this category, and neither publishes a volume discount schedule. At any real headcount, get written quotes from both. Remote also publishes two terms worth knowing about: no standard deposit (a refundable reserve may apply case by case) and one locked FX rate per monthly billing cycle. Deel states that it has no surprise fees. Ask both how deposits and FX are handled in your specific countries.
Criterion 2: Country coverage and entity model
This is Deel's widest lead. It offers EOR in 130+ countries and says it owns a network of entities in 150+, with in-house payroll professionals in every country it serves. Remote offers EOR in 90+ countries and describes its EOR as "100% owned entities, no third parties," listing 100+ entities owned and operated by Remote.
Both vendors' marketing makes the same point: an owned entity means one accountable company between you and your employee, with no local partner in the chain. They differ on breadth. If every country on your hiring plan sits inside Remote's 90+, coverage is a draw. Each country outside it is one where Deel can hire and Remote, on its published list, cannot. For a company opening several new markets in one year, that usually settles the decision.
Whichever you choose, confirm the legal employer for each target country in writing before you sign. Coverage lists change, and the answer for your three countries matters more than either headline count.
Criterion 3: Global Payroll, for when you own the entity
Global Payroll is the product you move to once a market justifies its own entity. Deel's covers 150+ countries and runs on what Deel describes as a single native payroll engine in 50+ countries, with real-time gross-to-net calculation. It is published at $29 per employee per month, and the managed option includes a dedicated Deel Payroll Manager.
Remote's Global Payroll covers 100+ countries at a published $29 per employee per month. Remote states the price includes no hidden FX spreads, onboarding fees or third-party handling charges, and that payroll can be self-serve or fully managed with a specialist.
Price is a tie at $29, so reach decides it. If your entities will sit in large, common markets, either vendor covers them. If you expect to open entities in less common markets, Deel's 150+ countries give you more room, and the employees you move off EOR can stay on the same platform. Check each country against Remote's 100+ before relying on it.
Criterion 4: Contractor management and misclassification
This is Remote's clearest win. Its Contractor Management seat costs $29 a month against Deel's $49, and Remote bills only for contractors you actively work with that month. For a team of 12 contractors, that is $2,880 a year at list price.
Remote also sells a middle tier Deel has no direct equivalent for. Contractor Management Plus, at $99 a month, adds what Remote describes as "$100,000 indemnity per contractor for penalties, up to $1M per company," under the terms in Remote's footnotes. Above that, both vendors sell Contractor of Record at $325 a month. There the provider holds the contract and takes on classification risk for long-term, single-client contractors. Remote pairs its version with IP Guard for IP transfer.
Use the working relationship to pick the rung, not the price:
| Rung | Fits when | Published price |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Contractor Management | Independent: several clients, own tools and hours, paid per project or invoice. | Deel $49/mo · Remote $29/mo. Classification risk is yours. |
| 2. Management with indemnity | Still independent, but you want a financial backstop. | Remote Contractor Management Plus $99/mo. Deel lists no equivalent tier. |
| 3. Contractor of Record | Long-term, mostly one client. The provider holds the contract. | Deel $325/mo · Remote $325/mo |
| 4. Employ them | Set hours, your equipment, managed by you, full-time and open-ended. | EOR from $599/mo on both, or Global Payroll if you own the entity |
Classification tests differ by country. Treat the ladder as a guide to which product to price, not as legal advice.
Criterion 5: Compliance and immigration support
Both vendors sell compliance as the core of the product. Deel says it has 200+ legal experts in employment regulation, statutory benefits and tax. It also runs a compliance hub that flags regulatory changes in 150+ countries and an AI assistant for HR and compliance questions. Remote says its payroll and compliance specialists build statutory updates into the platform. It offers classification guidance and a tool it calls Compliance Watchtower in its contractor product, with in-house legal and HR support for EOR employees.
Immigration is the sharper difference. Deel runs in-house visa support across 70+ countries, including the United States, Canada and the UAE. Pricing varies by visa type. Remote's pricing page lists no immigration product. If any planned hire will need sponsorship to relocate, check this before anything else on the list. A cheaper platform fee is no help if the person can't legally start.
Criterion 6: Platform and usability
Deel's platform is broader. Alongside EOR, payroll and contractors it includes an HRIS, recruiting (Find Talent, from $14 per worker per month), IT equipment logistics and a marketplace of 120+ integrations. Named integrations include Workday, NetSuite, SAP SuccessFactors, QuickBooks, Xero, BambooHR, HiBob, Personio, Greenhouse and Slack. Deel says payroll inputs are checked automatically, with anomalies and missing data flagged before a run.
Remote's platform is narrower and more developer-friendly in what it publishes. It documents an API, webhooks and SDKs, plus an MCP server and CLI, and offers mobile apps. Its integrations are free to customers, with HRIS connections to BambooHR, HiBob, Personio and Workday and finance connections to QuickBooks, Xero and NetSuite. Time tracking, expenses and benefits management are built into the EOR experience.
On the review sites each vendor quotes, Deel's EOR page shows 4.7 out of 5 from 15,000+ G2 reviews, and Remote's EOR page shows 4.5 from 4,900+. Both hold SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. If you want one vendor for the employee lifecycle from hiring to equipment, Deel offers more. If you want a focused employment layer wired into tools you already run, Remote's published developer surface is strong.
Criterion 7: Customer support and onboarding
Deel publishes the more specific support model: 24/7 support from an in-house team spread across 49 countries, reachable by phone, video call, web chat, email, WhatsApp, WeChat, Slack and Teams. It also provides an in-country HR experience team for EOR employees and a dedicated onboarding manager. Deel says it can onboard a new EOR employee "in as little as one day."
Remote offers in-app chat with its global support team and in-house payroll, benefits, legal and HR specialists. EOR customers get onboarding with a dedicated specialist, and Remote cites an average onboarding time of three days. We didn't find support hours or a response-time target on the Remote pages we checked. For a team spread across time zones, ask Remote directly whether support is available when your people are working.
The criteria at a glance
| Criterion | Edge | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing structure | Split | EOR and Global Payroll tie; Deel’s EOR is month-to-month, Remote is cheaper for contractors and US PEO |
| Country coverage | Deel | 130+ EOR countries against 90+ |
| Global Payroll | Deel | Both $29; Deel covers 150+ countries against 100+ |
| Contractor management | Remote | $29 against $49, plus a $99 indemnity tier |
| Compliance and immigration | Deel | Visa support in 70+ countries; 200+ legal experts |

What a team actually pays
Annual platform fees at list price. Remote's EOR figures assume its annual contract.
| Team | Deel / yr | Remote / yr | Better fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 contractors | $2,940 | $1,740 | Remote: contractor seats are $20 a month cheaper |
| 1 EOR employee + 5 contractors | $10,128 | $8,928 | Remote on price; Deel if you need month-to-month EOR |
| 4 EOR employees in new markets + 2 contractors | $29,928 | $29,448 | Deel: $40 a month more buys month-to-month terms and wider coverage |
| 10 EOR employees across 5 new countries | $71,880 | $71,880 | Deel: same list price, no annual commitment, 130+ countries |
| 8 US employees on PEO | $12,000 | $9,504 | Remote: PEO is $26 a month cheaper per employee |
The pattern holds across team shapes. The more contractors and US PEO employees you have, the more Remote's lower seat prices add up. The more your plan centres on EOR employees in new countries, the closer the prices get. At that point Deel's month-to-month terms and coverage cost nothing extra at list price. Run your own numbers below.
Remote is $480 a year cheaper at list price (1.6%). Deel adds month-to-month terms and 40+ more EOR countries.
Rates: EOR $599 on both; contractors $49 Deel, $29 Remote; US PEO $125 Deel, $99 Remote. Platform fees only, before salary, employer taxes and benefits.
Before you sign either one
The platform fee is the number on the pricing page. These are the terms that decide what you actually pay. Ask both vendors and get the answers in writing.
- The legal employer in each target country. Ask country by country, not in general.
- Commitment and exit terms. Remote's $599 EOR rate is tied to an annual contract. Deel's current US PEO promotion (three months of platform fees free) requires a two-year term, with full list fees due on early termination.
- Deposits and reserves for each of your EOR countries.
- FX handling. Remote locks one rate per billing cycle. Ask what margin applies when you fund payroll in a different currency.
- Off-cycle runs and statutory extras, such as bonuses, 13th-month salary and final pay.
- Offboarding costs, including notice periods and severance handling for EOR employees.
- Volume pricing. Neither publishes a discount schedule, so quote both at your real headcount.
The bottom line
Deel and Remote are closer than most comparisons suggest, and they sell the same three products at the same headline EOR rate. Remote is the better value for contractor-heavy teams and US PEO. Deel is the better platform for the buyer this guide is built around: a company putting full-time employees into several new countries, which needs to scale up or down without a year's commitment, may need visa sponsorship, and wants to move each market onto Global Payroll when it opens an entity. For that company, the published terms favour Deel on every criterion that decides whether a hire can happen.
